Filter belts for Horizontal Vacuum Filters

Filter belts for horizontal vacuum belt filters are used for filtration of very fine inorganic suspensions, especially in the mining industry and for gypsum filtration in flue gas desulphurization (FGD) plants.

Main feature of these filter belts is that there are very small openings in belt to be able to capture very small particles from suspension. To increase the ability of the belt to filter particles of very small size, some filter belts are made of the combination of monofilament and multifilament yarns (multifilament yarns are filling apertures in the monofilament). Disadvantage of belt with content of multifilament yarns in comparison with 100% monofilament belt is its quicker decrease of air permeability during belt operation and consequently lower flow rate. Therefore 100% monofilament belts are recommended if size of particles in suspension is not too small.

Filter belts for horizontal vacuum belt filters are standardly equipped with clipper seam AISI316 or with the clipper seam with a textile overlap. Textile overlap prevents the cake from leaking into the filtrate and eliminates vacuum losses.

Belt edges are standardly reinforced by strip of high mechanically resistant and flexible two component glue. Triangle reinforcement at seam edges increases mechanical resistance of seam.

Filter belts for horizontal vacuum belt filters are usually made of Polyester or Polypropylene.

Basic Fabric Designs

OreTex (210–280 CFM)

OreTex (210–280 CFM)

OreTex – series (210 – 280 CFM)

OreTex is a filter fabricused for filtration of mining sludge in horizontal vacuum filters.

Examples of Application:

  • Filtration of coal dust in coal mines
  • Filtration of ground rock in copper mines
  • Filtration of phosphate rock
  • Production of phosphoric acid

Filter Fabrics for Filtration of Gypsum

FGD-Tex50 (50 CFM)

FGD-Tex50 (50 CFM)

FGD-Tex  (30 – 50 CFM)

FGD-Tex 30 is used in horizontal vacuum filters for filtration of fine gypsum particles in FGD plants.

Examples of Application:

  • Filtration of gypsum in FGD plants
  • Filtration of coal ash in coal fired power stations

FGD-Master  (50 – 60 CFM)

FDG-Master is a new generation double layer filter fabricdesigned for filtration of gypsum in FGD plants.

Excellent filtration and mechanical properties of the filter fabricare due to the unique fabric construction. PET small-diameter monofilament yarns are used on the cake side to create a large number of very small apertures, while there are PET monofilaments with big diameters on thelower side to achieve high bendingand mechanical resistance.

Main advantages of the FGD-Master filter fabric:

  • Excellent filtration properties and weave stability
  • High air permeability throughout the fabricservice life
  • High bending resistance in the cross-machine direction prevents the fabric from rippling
  • Fabricservice lifeis extendedby 20–50% (in comparison with standard fabrics)
